Technologies to cool the world
-
- from Shaastra :: vol 03 issue 04 :: May 2024
Scientists are working on technologies to bring down temperatures — of places and people — sustainably.
If we want to cool people, why should the spaces around them be cooled? Why not just the people themselves? Renkun Chen started work on cooling people when he saw the increasing number of heat waves around the world. Chen, now a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), studied the devices on the market for personal cooling and found that they were largely based on two technologies: phase change materials and water circulation.
