Branching out

In the canopy of trees, branching serves the purpose of maximising light interception by leaves for photosynthesis.

The shared principles for blood, brain, lightning, and the cosmos.

Branches are everywhere: in the trees around us, where they are starkly evident when their leaves fall; in riverine deltas; in a bolt of lightning; in fractures on materials… We see branches everywhere, but we rarely think of the common principles in their formation.
