Quantum computers may get a boost with the Moiré effect.
Graphene has been at the centre of some significant developments in recent years. Now, research suggests it may also pave the way for the construction of qubits, the building blocks of quantum computers.
"Graphene has very good properties such as electron conductivity," says Aveek Bid, Professor in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. "But, in some sense, it is also very boring." He says this with a smile, for his team has been focusing almost exclusively on graphene (bit.ly/bilayer-graphene).
